Performance Services » Bike Fit Assessment » Previous Page

This new service offers cyclists and triathletes the opportunity to have their bike setup and pedalling efficiency assessed. It’s not just about how well your bike fits you, but more importantly how you move on your bike. Using Rob’s knowledge of biomechanics, 20 years of cycling experience and the latest testing equiptment suchas Computrainer; Rob has put together a unique package that covers the following;

  • cyclists flexibility with action plan
  • foot posture and cycling shoe setup
  • dynamic stability e.g. assessing pelvic strength
  • bike biomechanical assessment using Dartfish Motion Software
  • pedal efficiancy using ‘Spinscan’
  • adjustments to bike depending on findings

 Cyclists Flexibility

It is important to know the range of your muscles movements and where you are tight because this often affects how you move on the bike.  A good example is limited calf flexibility affecting ankle range of movement which directly affects pedalling dynamics. Rob will assess all cycling related muscle groups and advise on a stretching plan if required.

Foot Posture

This will assess whether your foot needs any extra support where it meets the pedals. A foot that pronates or ‘rolls in’ can directly affect leg biomechanics and lead to e.g. knee pain.

Dynamic Stability

Cycling requires the pelvis and core to have a high degree of stability. Rob will assess this and give exercises to be performed at home if required.

Biomechanical Assessment

Using your bike on the Computrainer, you will ride a short time trial whilst being filmed. This will give Rob the information about your riding position through different riding loads. Using Dartfish Motion software your movement can then be assessed to find your  optimum riding position.

Spinscan

Improvements in pedalling efficiancy can make it possible to produce power with less muscle stress and less muscle fatigue. Many of the worlds top cyclists have worked hard to improve their efficiancy using sophisticated scientific measurements of power. Spinscan is a unique tool to Computrainer that allows the cyclist to see his cycling efficiancy in realtime. It measures power through each pedal in 15 degree increments. This tells the cyclist which leg may be doing more work and how smooth the pedal stroke is. By slight adjustments to the bike and practising technique then cycling efficiancy can be improved and hence performance.

This complete service can take upto 2 hours and includes a full report of all findings. For special introductory prices see price list under performance services.
